My name is Ellen Young Gomez, HS68, and your tour coordinator/amateur tour guide for both the Downtown and Hollywood Tours. At this point, with the help of our So Cal team, we have a coach bus that will seat as many as 55 guests and tours for each of the two days. Attached are the Downtown and Hollywood Tour Itineraries which, hopefully, are as stress-free as possible and the literature or brochure on the Downtown and Hollywood areas. Please read them to prepare yourself for the tour as you do not have a professional tour guide, hence, the low fee...enough to pay for the coach bus and help fund the CHS scholarship program & faculty development.
Gratuities are to be given to the driver. We recommend at least $3.00 per person for each tour. Lunch is not included so bring cash or credit card. We will not send you to places that cost tons of money but reasonable amount, between $7-15 depending on your order & drink. Wear comfortable clothes including a light sweater as it may be a bit cool in the morning. Wear comfortable shoes as the LA DOWNTOWN is a walking tour, however, all these places are just a stone's throw away from each other. Same with the HOLLYWOOD TOUR except for the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Griffith Park Observatory where the coach bus will take us to those sites.
I suggest you stick to the schedule esp. for the LA DOWNTOWN tour because we need to line up for the Broad Museum at 10:30 am before its opening at 11:00 am. Any advance entrance will entail at least $10 per person and reserve in advance. We try to make these two tours as enjoyable and as inexpensive as possible for all of you so bear with us with a line up on only this particular place. The rest do not entail any lines. I was able to make arrangement so that we have a tour guide for the Disney Concert Hall and the Dorothy Chandler Auditorium of the Music Center (home of the Los Angeles Opera and dance performances) and its Plaza. Due to the many rehearsal hours needed for concerts for the new season, we will not be able to see the interior of the Disney Hall Auditorium. If there is still time, we may be able to watch a brief DVD of the interior of the auditorium.
Above all, BE ON TIME. If we extend the time beyond the scheduled hour, the cost is $100 more per hour. Moreover, most if not all, would like to nap/rest/snack before the Rex Navarrete show after the Downtown tour on Friday and the Gala Dinner on Sat. after the Hollywood tour. Please be considerate and be mindful of the time. Remember I will NOT have a portable mike to prod or nudge you to move or walk to the next destination, hence, you are provided now with the tour schedule and information to read before the tour. To be really pleasurable for yourself and others, do your homework! READ and be ready to smell the roses and/or coffee once you reach the various destinations.
If you have any concerns or questions, please email me at this same site because your question or concerns may be shared by the rest and my response will have also address the same concerns.
Thanks for your kind attention.
