SoCal: June 29, 2024 A full day of fun and relaxation while helping a good cause

This year, the CHSNAF SoCal Chapter held its fundraising event last June 29, in the beautiful home of Dr. Rica Cho, HS Class’80.

Its goal, of course, is to generate funds for its Grand Homecoming scheduled for October 25, 2025 in San Diego, CA.

The day was marked with activities that were fully designed for everyone’s enjoyment, while helping a good cause.

It was a huge success and the proceeds contributed a good amount to the foundation coffers.

So, we thank all the alumnae and friends who generously donated many of their beautiful items, which became other people’s treasures.

The day commenced with the Yard Sale/Bazaar. There was excitement in the air as the bargain hunters shopped for precious items, at give-away prices, to bring home.

It was a huge success and the proceeds contributed a good amount to the foundation coffers.

So, we thank all the alumnae and friends who generously donated many of their beautiful items, which became other people’s treasures.

The program proceeded with other fun activities. There were boxing sessions. Sparring bouts were made available to those who signed up to learn the basics of the sport with the famous boxer Rodel Mayol,  2-time WBC Champion and Pacquiao trainer.

The sessions were certainly a new activity and an excellent way to break a sweat as did Pilar Bernardo, Kylie Limjap and Carrie Eustaquio.

And speaking of breaking a sweat, Zumba is always good. Zumba steps were led by Lettie Bernal in coordination with Kylie Limjap both from , HS Class’82.

Then, what would an alumnae fundraising event be without the talk of maintaining our youthful looks? BOTOX !  It was not only about erasing a few lines and wrinkles, but it was, in essence, building up self-confidence. We’d like to think that “she” was happy with her results.

Likewise, we had the ever reliable Raffle which generated the most income.Carrie Eustquio tirelessly working the phone selling tickets all day! Thank you to all the prize donors who donated their Time Shares, namely: Ellen Gomez, Mimi Zubieta, Eileen del Gallegos and Lina Umali, all from HS Class’68.

Filipinos do love karaoke, and true to form, many signed-up for it regardless of their singing abilities. Coach voice Louie Reyes HS Class ‘68, was at the helm! Many thanks to Dr. Pilar Bernardo for setting up the Karaoke machine.

As always, what’s an event without food to enjoy? Food was provided by Arko and Nanay Gloria’s Restaurants. Not to forget Kylie Limjap’s delicious Salmon! Last, but certainly not the least, amidst all the goings-on, mahjong sessions we’re constantly happening in the background, from morning till day’s end. Surely, there was something for everyone.

We are grateful to all our Chapter members who had a hand in this fundraising campaign, but special thanks and kudos go to GENE ROBES, HSClass ‘73, who undoubtedly was the busiest member organizing the entire event, including the monies and all the prizes.

At the end of the day, we made a total surplus income of $2,533.00.

The Event was a huge success and it certainly was a great beginning for an event more successful San Diego Grabd Reunion. We look forward to seeing everyone in October 2025! -Chars Pejoro HS Class ‘67 BSFN Class ‘71
